April 16, 2009 there was 5^th interagency meeting on migration and asylum at the Hotel «Prague» in Uzhgorod. The purpose of this meeting will review the current situation in relation to recent changes in policy of the State Border Service of Ukraine, and a review of the recommendations adopted at the 4^th interagency meeting (October 8, 2008) and discuss other issues common to non-governmental organizations and government institutions working in the region, at regional and national levels. The meeting was attended by CF «Карітас-Caritas» Mukachevo Greek-Catholic diocese, UNHCR, IOM, Danish Refugee Council , State Committee on Nationalities and Religions, Department of migration service in the Zakarpattya region, Committee of Medical Assistance, Administration of State Border Service and Chop and Mukachevo border troops. During the meeting they discussed the transfer of applications for refugee status, the issue with the press and the coverage of migration and asylum in the region by state bodies and nongovernmental organizations in mass-media, and were short presentations of projects to be implemented UNHCR, IOM, Danish Refugee Council and EСRE on 2009.
